From a 5-10-2008 classmate e-mailing:
Why come to a
Reunion?
For old times
For the moment
For the hope of future times together
(And for the knowledge that future times on this earth do not go on forever
- but loving friendship does!)
For yourself
For your friends
For business contacts
For me
For the Whole Class
For meeting people you did not even know were classmates
Please come!
How should I prepare for the Reunion? (multiple-choice)
a) Spend the day at the spa, so you look your best.
b) Spend the day drinking, so you don't care what you look like.
c) Spend the day in the fresh air at our Class Gathering at Dearborn's
Homecoming at Ford Field, where people are glad to see each other, whatever
we look like (I am bald), whoever we were and whoever we are, whether we
knew each other or not! You look terrific! We belong together!
Hint: When answering multiple-choice questions, the longest choice is
usually the correct one.
What is so special about this date?
Homecoming weekend was chosen for this Reunion, because:
Reason 1) The City of Dearborn has a great variety of (free)
activities all weekend that you can enjoy with your family or other
classmates, including Entertainment, Classic Cars, Children's activities,
Fireworks, and Food Booths (the food part is not free; but many are
fund-raisers). After the City finalizes plans, I expect to see a detailed
schedule, including a map and parking information, on the
City of Dearborn's web site.
Reason 2) If you want to attend both Homecoming and the Reunion, you only
need to reserve one weekend out of your summer!
Reason 3) If you are not already attending Homecoming as an annual event, we
hope this is a good introduction and invite you to begin the tradition!
